          St. Michael School         
 

Band Program

The band program at St. Michael School is under the auspices of the Bishop Watterson Area Band Program.  The Area Band Program consists of the nine feeder schools of Bishop Watterson High School.  There are currently over 300 elementary musicians in the program this school year.

The Area Band Program also consists of four different bands or levels:

  1. Beginning Band 

  2. Advanced Band

  3. Honor Concert Band

  4. Honor Jazz Band. 

Students may begin band instruction in the fifth grade at their respective schools.  The Honor Bands are relatively new and are open to any students in sixth through eighth grade.  An audition, usually held at the end of September, is required to participate in either Honor Bands.

Mr. Mike Renzi is the Area Band coordinator and the Director of Bands at Bishop Watterson  High School.  He also teaches elementary band at St. Michael.  This is Mr. Renzi's fifteenth year at Bishop Watterson and St. Michael School.  He is assisted by Mrs. Jenna Inscho, Mr. Jim Swanson, and Mr. Brian Sze.

St. Michael School currently has approximately 30 students in the band program.  Many of these St. Michael students also continue with the band activities at their respective high schools.
