Writing Workshops For History Fair
“You can touch the life of a student forever!”
Each year our Junior High students participate in major research projects. For many years in the past, we had adult mentors who gave of their time and assisted students in the review and revision of their research papers. The assistance and attention the adult mentors gave the students was greatly valuable and appreciated.
“History Day mentors will have the opportunity to work with a small number of students in an individual manner inside the classroom during the months of August and September this school year. During these months the 8th grade students will be working on their History Day Projects in Social Studies class every day during school. Mentors can come in at any time the students are working on their Projects, but it is highly recommended mentors come in at least once a week starting the
week of August 25th. While with students, mentors will have the responsibility of assisting them in fulfilling the research, outlining,
and writing requirements of the History Day Project as stated by the History Day Team. At least one St. Michael faculty member will be in the classroom with students and mentors at all times
Will you help us? In scheduled workshops, you would work with students in reviewing their rough drafts and make suggestions on how they can make improvements. Again, it is our hope to address the writing of the paper in these workshops, so advanced knowledge in history is not necessary. It is a GREAT way to get to know kids, impact their lives in a positive way, and be an important part of the St. Michael School community!
Please strongly consider this wonderful opportunity. Complete and submit the online form below, or if you have any questions, feel free to call us at 885-3149.
