Oratorical Contest
Grades 7 and 8
Each year the Worthington Optimist Club sponsors an oratorical contest. Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Ohio, students compete by presenting an original four to five minute speech on an official topic chosen by the International Optimist Club.
Students compete at the club, zone, district, and state levels against other students from around Ohio. Medals, plaques, savings bonds, and scholarships are available to those students who excel at competitions.
St. Michael students have achieved incredible success in this contest. Our students have won over twenty club, twelve zone, six district, and two state championships. Our students have also been district runners-up and state finalists.
