Purpose Of The Athletic Association

In addition to a Physical Education program within the school day, boys and girls of St. Michael School have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports programs sponsored by the Parish Athletic Association, beginning with the fourth grade.

The purpose of the Athletic Association is to promote a balanced athletic program for the children of the parish and school by providing encouragement, organization and funding. Any individual 18 years or over who is in association with St. Michael Parish or School shall be eligible to be a voting member.

The Athletic Association officers for the 2012-2013 school year are:

• President – Burt Crimmel
• President-Elect – Sean Kelly
• Treasurer – Jim VanPaepeghem
• Recording Secretary – Sandy Zapior

The Athletic Association meets the 1st Thursday of each month at 8:00 p.m. at Villa Nova Ristorante (5545 N. High St.). All are welcome to attend.  Volunteers are always needed whether your kids are involved in sports or not. If you would like to get involved, but cannot make the meeting(s), please contact Burt Crimmel

The Athletic Association sponsors several events that assist in the funding of the program. Please support the Athletic Association Dance (Spring 2013) and the Golf Outing (June 2013).

Sports Programs

Membership in the SMAA will show your support of the goals and objectives of the Association and your commitment to supporting our youth. Your support will ensure that St. Michael will continue to have an elite sports program in the Columbus Diocese.

The SMAA makes substantial contributions toward Diocesan participation fees and provides financial assistance to enable all interested students to participate. In recent years the SMAA, through the establishment of the “300 Club,” was responsible for a complete renovation of the St. Michael School gymnasium. The SMAA provides uniforms for use by participants and provides new state-of-the-art sports equipment. Individual trophies are awarded to all players on a league or tournament championship team.

Your support is necessary to promote the continued growth of the SMAA and will allow you to share in the fulfillment of the purpose, goals and objectives of the Association.
