Altar Servers

Grades 5 to 8
Altar servers donate their time to serve at our church services
throughout the liturgical year. They are trained in the 5th grade and
continue through high school. |

Math Club

Grades 6 to 8
Math Club is a program designed to stimulate interest and achievement in
mathematics. Interested students meet weekly with a parent volunteer, the
Jr. High math teacher, and the enrichment teacher. They practice problem
solving techniques. |

Enriching Activities

Grades 3-8
Our extra curricular enrichment program allows students to investigate,
learn about topics of their own interests, and the opportunity to develop
particular talents through special projects. Students also have the
opportunity to participate in Drama Club.

Oratorical Contest

Grades 7-8
Students
compete by presenting an original four to five minute speech on an official
topic chosen by the International Optimist Club.

Power of the Pen

Grades 7-8
Power of the Pen seeks to identify the state's most aspiring young writers
through a series of intense writing rounds which pit students against
writers from other schools. Competitions are held at the district,
regional, and state level with degree of difficulty increasing at each
stage.

Student
Council

Grades 1 to 8
Two Student Council representatives are elected from each homeroom twice a
year. These representatives lead the rest of the students in doing
charitable works for the community. They meet once a week on their lunch
hours. Student Council sponsors a walk-a-thon yearly to benefit others who
are less fortunate.

JAM PACKeD

Grades 7 to 8
JAM
PACKeD is a video newspaper that is
organized by student leaders. They meet with the reporters to
brainstorm topics and assign articles. Articles are written by
student reporters in junior high and reviewed by the leadership team.
The stories are then filmed by the camera crew as well as “anchored” by
junior high students. The video “news show” is then shown the last
Friday of each month for the entire school.

Safety
Patrol

Grades 6 to 8
The Safety Patrol students serve the school by protecting other students at
our crosswalks. These children help school and local authorities in
enforcing safety rules to guide and protect fellow students. |

Chess Club

Grades 3 - 8
Chess Club is designed to introduce students to chess fundamentals
and to foster interest in the game. The chess team and the chess club are
both organized and run by parent volunteers. Also, The Chess Team competes in local scholastic chess tournaments and
meets weekly after school for practice and instruction in advanced game
techniques and strategy. |
Sports

Grades 4-8
Our sports program offers a wide variety of sports including basketball,
soccer, track, volleyball, football, cross country, softball and baseball.
A strong Athletic Association and committed coaches provide essential
ingredients for a successful athletic program.

Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts

Grades 1-8
Troop 123 runs a very active and exciting program designed to get the most
out of your Scout. Our Troop
meetings and Courts of Honor are run by the Scouts and for the Scouts. We’re
an enthusiastic Troop that encourages participation and FUN. |

Girl Scouts

Grades 1-8
Girl Scouts is for girls 6 through 18, provides opportunity to learn many
skills and responsibilities. Also Provides individuals, troops and area
wide camping, as well as indoor an outdoor fun.

Band

Grades 5-8
The musical instrument program is taught by instructors from Bishop
Watterson High School. Children are divided into Beginning Band and
Advanced Band to match their capabilities with those of others.
